Correction lines

The horizontal provisions that were included into the rectangular survey method in order to account for the spherical nature of the earth's surface. On the basis of every fourth township line, which is used as a correction line, the distances that separate the north and south range lines are remeasured and adjusted so that they add up to a whole six miles.
