Legality of object

A component that must be included in a contract in order for it to be considered legitimate. If the purpose of a contract is to engage in conduct that is prohibited under the laws of the United States or the laws of a state to which the parties are subject, then the contract is unlawful, null and void, and the courts will not accept it as legitimate.
