Real estate

Land is defined as the section of the surface of the world that extends downward to the center of the earth and upward into space in an eternally continuous manner. This definition includes anything that is permanently linked to land, whether it was created by nature or by man.

The term “real estate” in the context of real estate itself refers to property consisting of land and the buildings on it, along with its natural resources. When we talk about “real estate in real estate,” this typically describes one of several concepts:

  1. Real estate as an investment class within the broader real estate market
  2. A subdivision or specific category within the real estate industry
  3. The practice of investing in real estate properties as part of a real estate portfolio

There are various investment strategies, property types, and market segments that could be considered “real estate within real estate”, but here are a few classifications.

Residential real estate

Properties for living purposes such as single-family homes, condominiums, and apartment buildings.

Commercial real estate

Properties used for business purposes, including office buildings, retail spaces, and industrial facilities.

Industrial real estate

Factories, warehouses, and distribution centers.

Land

Undeveloped property, agricultural land, and plots for future development.
